I started watching it on flight from Chicago a few months ago and finished once I subscribed to HBO Max. It's not bad, music documentary stuff MTV might've done in its music days.

ah, cool! I like music docs a lot, I think I just have a cultural blind spot or unsubstantiated aversion to yacht rock? HAH. I clearly need to open my mind...

What's interesting is the movie does define yacht rock (as an after the fact idea). If you were stuck cruising the AM/FM dials you couldn't escape any of the music, so it's also a cultural history.

Ahhhh, makes sense, thank you! As part of cultural history, that's interesting. Via radio. So, I MAY need to watch it, when or if I'm able.

hah! Oh, welcome to my brain! I JUST had this convo this week + listened to an interview w the director of Jeff Buckley doc. While I ALSO somehow missed his music, I'm open to a doc about him, and very interested in the way it was constructed-and what's on screen audio - video wise. You like it?

Haven't seen the movie yet. I do intend to. Check out his music and his story. His album Grace is great.
