It's not clear to me Ohio's Governor can order the release of Ayman Soliman if he is being held by ICE. But, it is likely that Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones, a known extreme nativist and racist, is likely treating Soliman inhumanely because of his religion. www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2...

In Mass, ex-Sheriff Thomas Hodgson was holding people for ICE and mistreating them (he was mistreating all of the people in his custody but particularly people who were immigrants bc he was an open racist). The state AG found he violated the civil rights of those he held in his custody.

I want to add that the people who signed the letter advocating for Soliman's release are specifically asking the governor to advocate on his behalf.
Too bad the AG did not prosecute the sheriff and get him sentenced to the same, brutal and inhuman conditions the sheriff was all too happy to impose in his jails.
