It’s hard to know where he was in the process but yes. U visas in my experience are kind of a sad joke.

It was pointed out the application was granted 7 years ago. The idea still holds our immigration system needs streamlining and made easier to come here legally and take less time to complete the process.
Oh yeah no question.
And I just don't know why Dems can't capitalize on it by arguing about values. a. Immigrants are a net positive for the country and our citizens. b. Everyone hates bureaucracy c. The more people who can come in legally and faster reduces the pressure at the border. And it goes on and on and on.
I propose a 1:1 swap where we trade some of our border "volunteers" with the flagpoles in the middle of their pickup truck beds for, say, some Honduran families looking for the merest possibility of a normal, decent life. We'll even throw in the trucks.
give him a free trip to Mars on Elmo's rocket.
And if you've ever been near the front lines of a wildfire you know what a brutal job it is and what kind of resources it calls upon. Few people are equal to it at all. In any kind of merit based system seeing one damn wildfire fight through ought to cut years off your process.
The point shouldn't be who is better than anyone else and should get moved ahead. The whole system needs to be revamped so it doesn't take anyone more than 5 years, from start to finish. Use resources wisely. More people to process means less need for patrolling the border.
No, but they keep talking about merit as if they actually meant it. I'll show you merit. I got your merit right here hombre.
