I will never not be amazed when cops refuse to stop high speed chases despite all the evidence being against them. They are so bad and so easy not to do.

But have you considered the adrenaline rush the cops get when they do it?? We can't deny them that!!
the "drive fast, shoot things" mentality, as i call it
My childhood best friend always wanted to be a cop because his granddad was a Fort Worth cop for 40 years. Got laid off from the finance world and went to the academy at like 23. Only a cop for a bit, but the stories were wild, even for a reserve offices in a tiny suburb...
But to your point, 3 officers at the station. Dispatch gets a call about a rabid raccoon at a car wash. Cops were literally tripping each other and racing to their cars because responding officer would get to be the one to shoot it. Literally racing to "drive fast, shoot things".
And this was 20 years ago. They sure as hell haven't gotten better in the past two decades with stuff like that.
lol at the raccoon. shoot it! shoot it!
Had it not been such a danger to the public, it would be a hilarious story. Something set to Yakkity Sax. Luckily for the raccoon, as several cop cars came screeching in, it ran off and they never did find it. Funny as hell, but I learned early the mentality of cops.
