This made me sick! He has no shame! I was watching this with my husband who is a Vietnam Veteran and thinking of both of our Dads who served in WWII. I was so upset I looked up whether it was acceptable and was not surprised to find it wasn’t.

The Army sent me to Advanced NCO Training which qualified me to be a Drill Sergeant. He should have his hand over his heart, he should not be saluting. He is an embarrassment.

He shouldn’t be doing it at all. You only render salutes when in military uniform, and preferably you should be wearing your cover (hat). As a veteran this makes me cringe. Frankly I think the only reason he does it is he thinks it looks cooler but he’s so sloppy it’s disrespectful.

The Flag Code was modified in 2008 to authorize veterans to salute if they desired. Trump never served so he shouldn’t be saluting. CinC is a civilian position. americanhistory.si.edu/citizenship/...
