I’ve always liked the sound of bagpipes...but today? Today hit different. I’ve never felt them like that before. That wasn’t just music... that was something else entirely.

I’ve had moments like that with bagpipes. Yeah, I like them, but sometimes they just hit different. Which ends up leaving me either crying or having an existential crisis. 😅
They fill me with ‘hope’ when I hear them.
My grandpa told me they had pipers with them on marches during WWII. He said the pipes would ring out across the land, and spook the Nazis. Those pipers drew on their ancestry today. It was tremendous.
youtu.be/UCZvwl7Il14?...
Let’s say they definitely sound better some days rather than others.
Sweet sound of—- we hate the felon!
War. What you heard was war. Bagpipes are instruments of war. Used well they are simultaneously terrifying and uplifting. In a group at dawn the hairs on your arms will stand on end.
Why are bagpipers always marching? They're trying to get away from the sound.
Anti tyranny pipes.
They always bring me to tears. I can't explain it. Same when the National Anthem was sung by Whitney Houston. That was the best I've heard.
🔥💙
Makes ya want to dance a jig!
When the moment is right there is nothing, truly nothing, as emotionally stirring as the bagpipes. Today was genius.
We’re going to need to get a bagpipe squad to follow rump around. Lol.
Bagpipes were once considered a weapon of war. 😉
It was transcendent! The notes floating above all else!
I’m convinced the Scots were sending a very clear message to Trump. A bagpiper led the men into war, and although Scotland is not actually at war, they were sending the message they do not see him as a friend. In fact he is extremely disliked there.
Soul food
The Campbells are coming! Hurrah! Hurrah!
Bags of soup?
www.youtube.com/shorts/c_vzj...
I believe the Bagpipes today were trying to drown out the sound of Trump's voice! I couldn't discern which sound was worse! And both combined was absolutely painful!
Maybe they played that way during the great wars....I like to think so...
As a kid, I was coerced into learning the chanter via The Boys Brigade. I have never liked the bagpipes, going as far as "What do you call a music lover? Someone who can play the bagpipes but doesn't" being a favourite joke. However, on hearing them outdrone Donny, I have a new found love for them!
The pipes may be enjoyed, or indeed, endured according to personal preference, but they're not going to be ignored.
They are a martial instrument. Used as a weapon at times. I read a comment here that you FEEL them...true.
and very difficult to play.
A fellow musician and friend of mine attended a concert with two pipers playing. We went after a rehearsal and had had several beers. We were late to the concert but were delighted to find seats in the front row. I will never forget the volume, it made our faces hurt.
Yep, those Scots blew those pipes in defiance & total disrespect of the "most powerful leader in the world". The Scots let him know that the whole world knows he's the world's biggest fraud, bully & demented degenerate ever to cheat his way into the US presidency - twice. It was a glorious noise!🤣
Being half Scottish maybe, they’ve always hit me hard!!! That WAS special though!!!
Like the lead-up music in a film to a certain kind of final procession for which we are all waiting with baited breath?
It gave me the same warm fuzzy feeling that the guy with the tuba did when he followed the marching nazis, playing goofy music
As a kid, an older gentleman down the street would sit on his porch and play his bagpipes. I can't hear Scotland the Brave or Amazing Grace on the pipes these days without crying.
It felt like bagpipes going to war it wasn't just musical sounds LFG
After Culloden, the bagpipes were banned as treasonous. Throughout history they’ve been considered to be a weapon of war. My dad landed in Normandy in 1944 a scotsman from Glasgow said the piper Bill Millin inspired them. That piper today is a bloody hero to drown out the orange snake
Dad told us the Germans didn’t shoot him because they thought he was insane.
💕😂💕
Pipes can be celebratory as well: youtu.be/P91dyBwmYcw?...
Love it! 😄
Archy J is going to be my next ex-wife. She just doesn’t know it yet.
😄
Proud of my homeland!🏴🏴🏴🏴
The US has lots of pipers. Hope they decide to do a lot of practicing wherever Trump goes. Wherever any of those horrid people from his administration go. Come to think of it, I’ve always wanted to learn to play the bagpipes. 🤔 “True Patriot Pipers” It could be a thing
New way to protest.
The drone of the pipes is in my blood, today more than ever.
Bagpipes drowning out the Pedo-in-chief's speech was epic!
during any 'great' war, the Brits (aka ... the English mongrels) would send a sole piper our to cross the barren wastelands of battle to sing with their 'pipes' during WW I, the sound of the pipes coming across the battlefield was at time unsettling a cadre of pipers leading to the underworld
Yes! This happened to my grandpa during WWII on marches.
That brought tears to my eyes.
Ah, I love Scotland. That was just perfection. I hope that London can give a similar welcome in September.
I went to Carnegie Mellon, the only bagpipe major in the country. Early morning bagpipes were the refrain of hangovers and champions.
🔥💙
Always liked them but now among my top five favorite instruments!
I hope they were luring him to a long walk off a short pier.
His walk up music from now on. Extra loud & never-ending.
They hit me really hard on the tarmac in Afghanistan watching caskets being loaded onto a plane. Didn't see today though.
Haven’t laughed like that in a long time! That bagpiper is a true gem. Starmer was holding back some giggles 🤭
Any sources to see? Thanks.

Scotland forever
That was the sound of all 5.5 million of my countrymen saying shut the fuck up and go home.
That’s what I heard too—loud and clear. So glad to read this thread, it’s insightful
... as the pipes properly are.
Bagpipes are fabulous, I tried blowing into one many moons ago, very tricky. The sound is quite emotive.
There is nothing like bagpipes. I can hear someone practicing the pipes from my house and the sound of that music drifting on the air is genuinely stirring. Grips you by the feels.
There's the tedious tourist stuff that gets trotted out, then there’s the makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and chills run down your spine stuff
During the First World War Scottish Regiments would go over the Top on the Western Front to the Sound of Bagpipes! 👍 My Dad was a huge fan of Bagpipe and British Military Music so I had the pleasure of hearing Bagpipes growing up.
Wasn’t it grand? Drowning out the Pedofuhrer’s lies! Reminded me of my running days. One race I ran had a bagpiper playing at the start! I loved it!
They did sound terrifying😱
" i don't know what he's doing. I better not say anything more or I'll get in trouble" He needs to get his filthy hands off her. Ever the abuser. Reminds me of this. www.vogue.com/article/brig...
It was opening a can of stfu.
Oh, Donny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling ...
🤣🤣
🤣
That was the sound of protest
Unless you’ve heard them in real life, you don’t really know how loud they are, and how the sound penetrates you. I understand the war usage!
Donald J. Trump is the progeny of Mary McCleod. QEII presented him with a tartan and a heraldic impression of his family tree. Just to make a point.
🤣
The skirling of defiance and anger.
Playing over tRump speaking was what we all needed to hear!!
Absolutely, I can’t stand hearing or seeing Trump. He’s a walking talking menace.
Entirety mocking in tone, played “badly” on purpose. No attempt to display the instrument’s multitudinous charms. Genius trolling. 🏴 for the win.
They drowned him out. Perfectly executed by the Scots who hate him. They don't want to listen to his bullshit as much as we don't.
MOAR Bagpipes!
Powerful message- good trouble!
At burial for my Canadian Grandfather Campbell, a lone piper, appearing as a silhouette out from behind a huge tree far off up on a cemetery knoll (image memory), grey sky January, frigid bone chilling cold, air silent frozen; played Amazing Grace, a searing rendition, feel it? Went right thru me.
I wonder if Bill Barr would approve? 🤔
It was the sound of freedom, the wake up call for the protests and the heavenly sound of peace, that stopped the Glibberish.
It was spectacular 🙌
🤣 . A Scottish Welcome Trump's Theatrical Homecoming 👍 👇👇👇👍 www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejKW...
"I’ve always liked the sound of bagpipes" 🫤 Why do Bag pipers march while they play? To get away from the sound.🤣
😉
Bagpipes have never been just about the music.
They are powerful, hit you physically and emotionally.
There was a reason why bagpipes were played in battle. Wasn’t just to annoy the enemy. Narrator: it should be stated that the author of this reply does in fact like bagpipes.
Was the bagpipe sound edited in?
No
🇫🇮❤️
🏴?
I love Scots more today than ever!
It was a masterpiece of discordance.
Bagpipes are a weapon of war in the right hands
One does not "listen" to bagpipes. One "feels" bagpipes. A primal, dna level experience.
Even if one is not genetically Scottish 💕
Listen to aires de pontevedra at a pan celtic festival
Thought I would share. In France a few years there is a French Navy band from Brittany (Bagad Lann Bihoue) with bagpipes. I found myself crying over a YouTube video. I know I have Scottish ethnicity but 2 weeks later MyHeritage gave me Brittany on their update. It’s on YouTube.
See? It's in our DNA❤️
I’m a genetic genealogist and I believe this 100%. Especially music.
It is true! I get goosebumps EVERY DANG TIME
I lived in Scotland in the 80s and loved it. They are a proud, independent, and welcoming people.
The pipes are sublime!
The sound of resistance, perhaps?
I would gladly get behind making bagpipes the official music of resistance to tyranny.
🔥💙
I had one CO I’d have followed through the gates of Hell…..and then there’s the bagpipes.
🔥💙 Understood.
They are battlepipes.
A new USA motto from our Irish heritage: If you can’t beat em Bagpipe em 😘 Let’s fucking go 😃 Elbows Up 👍
Love the bagpipes, especially Anazing Grace. I cry
If my first experience with them had not been the three yrs it took for our HS band leader to learn/teach it (mascot was a Highlander) I might have given them a chance.
😂
Maybe a prelude.... To an obituary??? 🙏
Somebody give that bagpiper The Medal of Honor!
Buy that bagpiper a case of 12-year-old scotch.
There have been many times that they've brought tears to my eyes.
🔥💙
In my head, I'm hearing Amazing Grace.
Scotland the Brave always gets me right in the feels. youtu.be/4Bt1EbUXgBo?...
Now only used for the annual rounding up of Haggis for the drive to market.
It was a STFU signal to the world and der trumpf tried to talk over and around it. The quicksand of his own making is up to his belly button right now.
Haha awesome! Much preferable to hearing him.
Agreed. bsky.app/profile/cosm...
Call the sound cops.
Glad you enjoyed our national pipes. So proud of my country Scotland 🏴🏴
That was Billie Millin Playing the boys onward to fight the fascist arsehole
That was yet another blatant violation of the Emoluments Clause. The man just opened up a golf club in another country with fees and dues payable directly to him. What is it going to take to get the Democrats off their asses?
Don’t fuck with Scotland 🏴🏴🏴 🇨🇦🏴🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Wait, what did I miss? Anybody have a video of it.
youtu.be/OeSNh9r857k?...
😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
Drowned him out at every opportunity.
The rally cry of Braveheart
You should try a Highland Games, with a pipes & drums band competition. Hundreds of pipers all in the same place.
Bagpipes are weapons of war
Lord Lovat and had his piper Bill Millin announce he had arrived at Pegasus Bridge in the Battle of the Bulge.
earplugs from god
Resistance, it was
My love of the pipes deepened after watching that video. I have been so proud of my Scottish cousins the last couple of days.
Down at Ground Zero we would hear them all the time as they would remove and honor the remains found...it takes me back and haunts me.
If the pipes are on your side.... They're thrilling and energizing. If they're on the other side, they instill fear deep in the bowels.
It was beautiful 😍. It was soothing. It was happiness in a pipe. 🤭
Cadence to Arms
Are you referring to #47 in Scotland being drowned out by the bagpipes? Totally hilarious! Otoh, bagpipes always make me emotional. Idk why.
The Scots have used bagpipes to lead their armies to war for centuries. They are not just for music.
I was so happy to not hear the Pedofuhrer’s voice
Pedofuhrer…. Perfect! 🙂
I can’t take credit but it is an excellent name
Rommel’s soldiers in North Africa called the Scottish regiments stationed there the “grannies from Hell” because of the kilts and bagpipes. Once the Germans heard the pipe music, they knew they were in for it.
I never have sound on when doomscrolling. But now i did speaker on. HITLARIOUS
Love the bagpipes
I LOL, it was beautiful!
Elaborate, please!
www.express.co.uk/news/world/2...
Yes!!!!! I love this.
Brilliant. Scotland's gift of bagpipes.
It was like the universe standing up for what’s right! A magical moment.
They were originally invented as a weapon, so that makes sense
bagpipes are instruments of passion , weapons of war and tools of peaceful protest 😍
It was perfect timing
Same!!!!!!
