Yup & there isn't any easy recourse even if the amount is wrong. USPS won't give you the package without the $$. Further, w/o the de minimis rule, US travelers will pay tariffs on purchases they ship home. That means fewer purchases overseas and more economic damage globally. The ripple effect.
But hey, doesn't this mean you're "winning"?
Yes! Making America Great Again! …all the way to recession!
Maybe we should all start sending those bills to the White House!?
Perfect example! How do you reach so many ignorant people, though? 🤷🏻♀️
This appeared on an invoice we received yesterday from a Chicago-based company. "The price is based on the current tariff structure. XXXX reserves the right to charge additional amounts in the event any new or additional tariffs are imposed on the order." Up 27% from last year.
Watch out for the “brokerage fees”! That’s another secret time bomb cost that comes out of the blue. Not only are you paying tariffs, but fees for someone to examine the goods & assess the tariff.
Yeah, well, everything costs time & money. They are not going to eat the cost. This needs to stop.
I foresee a lot of packages stalling and delivery not being accepted when people realize this is reality.
Dear China. I've been sent this invoice for $26.62 Could you please ensure that it is paid as soon as possible. I *think* the trump said that's how this works. Thank you for your attention to the matter. JH
But we knew that, right? Just like Mexico was paying for the wall!
That's the price of freedom!
I was going to order something from the UK. Cost $365. Tariffs $61. Nope. And I won't be buying anything made in the US as a replacement.
Damn tho is terrible
Thus, total shipping comes to $60
‼️‼️‼️‼️
And where does our tariff tax money go, Jack? Trump's General Fund Con Master
What I don’t understand, a Federal judge deemed these tariffs illegal but they stay in place until October? Waiting for their appeal? That’s crazy! Tariffs should stop NOW while we wait for the snail 🐌 pace of our judicial system to finalize the matter!!
I had to do that with a $35 tie I ordered from London, UK. Shipping was $15. I received a bill from DHS for another $30 in duties and fees.
Ugh, import taxes are the human version of someone stealing my tuna sandwich. At least you didn't have to pay in catnip.
Don’t pay the illegal tax!
List paid $68 tariff for a stuffed animal our granddlaughter wanted for her birthday. The stuffed animal didn’t cost that much, FFS!
*Just paid
And the tax was imposed not by our elected representatives but by an unbalanced imbecile. Think King George III and the Stamp Act.
The Stamp Act was passed by Parliament. www.worldhistory.org/Stamp_Act/
👍
Obviously billed in error. The UK pays these, not the buyer, right?
LOL. LMAO, even.
👍cool...see tariffs work...
Is today your birthday? I got a text for one from “FedEx” that it had been undeliverable on my birthday
Yep. We received an email from UPS that an 80,00 euro item had a $64 tariff due before it could be delivered. Payable online or to the delivery person (limited forms of payment accepted).
Imagine how this is affecting small businesses that ship to the U.S., like Etsy crafts sellers. It'll kill them.
Yeah I had that happen through Etsy
Wow. Requiring payment before delivery, you pay no matter what.
Here we go! SMH 🤬
We have been getting hit with this now as well for samples that mills sent to us that even if they paid freight we have to pay the duty. We get ridiculous $1.48 invoices from UPS that probably cost them as much to generate.
I have also posted this a few times. It is now "only" 30% extra over the duties we already paid for years, but #TACO could change that at any time w/ the way China has been not kowtowing to him lately. bsky.app/profile/bret...
With two judgements that these tariffs are unconstitutional, I’ve been harassing my GOP Senators to explain how importers / consumers will be made whole again for the money we have already paid out. They abdicated their responsibility to prevent this, and we need to hold them to account for it.
UPS has been since May asking us to pay the tariff fees at time of dropping off a package regardless of who sent it or they won't leave the package. Some fees have been 30-40 dollars a pop.
We have not quite gotten to that point with UPS yet as we have a long relationship with them, but DHL has held some shipments coming to us from India waiting for payment, but they do not contact us directly. We have to have the factory in India tell us about it.
So, I order from a UK store a few times a year. I am now getting alerts that duties will be added that are not a part of my charges from them. How do I figure out what the tariffs will be? I have not ordered from them because I don’t want the “surprise” charge once it’s on its way.
trumpflation in real time 🤬
Louder for the folks at the back
Silver lining is little MAGA's are seeing the same all over the US.
Their maga flags and crap are going to be expensive. 🥲😅
Jack I saw that the tariffs might be refunded to the companies if it is deemed illegal now what I want to know will they be refunding the people who paid this or will they just hold onto it? They should refund all the people who paid it but you never know do you?
Thank the MAGAts!!
That is horrible
Howard Lutnick just called and said that was an administrative mistake.
Trump tariff Inflation to be followed by Trump Tariff Recession.
Trump take job.
Now that a visual that tells it all.
Well according to the genius in the White House… The company in Canada should pay that money, so just send them a bill. I’m sure they’ll reimburse you. That’s how tariffs actually work, apparently ...
Wtf
Maybe it’s critical for you to receive this item but I’d cancel the order & make everyone else eat the cost of chasing this money.
I bought something from China 2019 and was interested again two weeks ago and said i will be paying more but they were not sure how much exactly but it was more than the item as far as the quote me. I said no thanks
SEND THE BILL TO MARK CARNEY, CANADA IS SUPPOSED TO PAY IT
That's what the demented orange felon wants you to think.
CARNEY WILL PAY FOR THE US-CANADA WALL TOO!!1!
He will build one the regime cannot climb…
The elimination of the de minimis rule is going to destroy small businesses, both here and abroad.
open.spotify.com/track/4Isvje... This song explains tariffs perfectly. It's mostly about the steel industry, but it applies for everything. Wall Street is making huge money off this. It's ALWAYS the workers and people trying to buy things that pay. WE PAY ..... not the wealthy 😠
And there is a hidden cost. Because the deminimus rule is no longer in place, everyone has to spend $$ on systems and labor and practices that were not necessary before. The cost of this will reflected in price hikes. This is known as inflation.
Your tariffs at work.
Some small businesses and fan sites won't ship to the US because of the Rethuglican mess. Liberals are feeling the pain. We need snarky tshirts from the BritComs.
Only speaking for myself and media I have access to; Canada started new trade negotiations 2 days after Trump started that tariffs stuff with us. 2 weeks in, we already made and negotiated new trades with other countries. slightly more expense, but CHEAPER than USA's tariffs. We dont need USA now.
That's such bs 😤
Donald Trump has totally and with malice of forethought Wrecked our wonderful country. I hope he is happy with his evil self. I hope to see him rot in prison. (Wishful thinking)
I receive anything like that I don’t need it that much and they will have to pay to transport it back.
Trumps Regime has made the USA uninvestable right now and dangerous
That exact same thing happened to me for an item I ordered from a Finnish clothing company. And that asshole expects me to believe that the company itself paid the tariff?
Yes. You need to read a listing very carefully now to see how and when the tariff is collected. It might be included in your shipping cost or the item cost, or be a separate charge. But we are definitely paying the tariff.. not the sending company, not the shipping company, not the government, us.
