Hey Sulfuric acid is still mostly water by volume, right? So how bad could it be? (I do not remember enough chemistry to actually calculate the relative volumes of components of a solution to know if this is even technically accurate)

lab grade "concentrated sulfuric acid" is 96% sulfuric acid by weight.

or to be more precise it *could be* as much as 96% sulfuric acid by weight; I suppose they sell lower grades that would still rate as "concentrated".

See there could be as much as 6 or 7 percent water in there, I’m sure it’s fine! (Thanks, that is actually interesting to learn! My last chem class was freshman year of college and they very much did not have us using the nasty acids)

it's a small enough amount of water that the concept of pH becomes a bit fuzzy - there's not enough water for the acid to dissociate properly. (on a related note, IMPORTANT LAB SAFETY TIP, dilute acids by adding acid stock to water; adding water to a concentrated acid can have violent results.)
