Don't be simple.Scotland was a sovereign state older than England, an equal party to the Act of Union. We retain our own distinct institutions and are recognised internationally as a nation. Yorkshire doesnt come close. Our electoral position is a national democratic deficit, not a county grievance.
No simpler than pretending Scotland has a population less than 9% of the UK total.
This is also why Scotland has its own parliament. It would be great if it had more power than it does. However, in the UK parliament, everyone’s vote should count equally, regardless of the country you’re in. Worth noting that in 2019 the SNP had 7% of MPs with only 4% of the votes.
“everyone’s vote should count equally,” is a nice theory but in reality Scotland’s national will is always overridden in the UK Parliament. That’s the difference.The issue is about Scotland as a nation having no effective way to express its democratic will within the Union.
