The word Nationalism has become quite frightening. Trumpism is in my mind nationalism. It acts only in its own self-interest and to the exclusion and detriment of the best interests of other nations, ethnicities, and groups. So hearing nationalism causes fear for me.
Every nation on earth is the product of nationalism. Should we give back the continental US to the American Indian? Only Jewish nationalism rankles people. Israel has gone too far in Gaza in defending itself and should be challenged for it. But it is entitled to its Jewish identity.
Great article from the Brookings institute written a couple years ago on all of this. Where does democracy come into play now in Israel? Netanyahu is trump without orange paint on his face. I’m not Jewish so I only have limited knowledge from what is written by “experts”. I suspect you are Jewish.
A Palestinian state must be created to preserve Israeli democracy. But it is also true that Israeli Arabs enjoy more freedom than in any other place in the Middle East.
