I grew up thinking syphilis was easily treated. Why would a person of means let that particular disease go?

He didn't. He has the most comprehensive medical treatment on the planet and it's not even close. There is no syphilis in him.

Yea, he's only had that superior medical treatment for less than a decade. Untreated Syphilis can take several decades before it rests it's ugly head.

Could have missed the sore...and didn't know he had it. Syphilis is easily treated when caught early. Massive dose of Penicillin will take that right out. IF caught early.
