What if your religious view holds that a minority group is inferior to white people? Can you opt out of lessons about civil rights, equal rights, slavery, etc.? What if your religious view holds that women should be subservient to men? Can you opt out of lessons about the 19th amendment?

Having religion in public schools places an additional burden on families that support LGBTQ taxpayers.

What if your religious view now states you can treat people how you would "not" want to be treated and insist that you are Christian. Maybe you worship a false idol.

Yes. I think those lessons are illegal under the current administration to begin with… A professor in Florida wasn’t allowed to teach a course on slavery.

I for the life of me don’t understand how any of these fake “Christians” actually think they’re Christian. I don’t think any of them has actually ever read the bible.

Well, the center of gravity in American Christianity is purely white nationalist, misogynistic, bigoted, hateful, and violent. So, lots of opt out potential.

Slavery? Slavery's a tough one because it's OK in the bible and probably other made-up fantasy books. So I wouldn't touch slavery or equal rights for females (non-persons)

The mere existence of non-Christian belief now violates their religious beliefs. Their taking over our public schools because church membership is at its nadir, state sponsored assistance for Christians and assorted white people.

This isn’t as difficult as some of you make it… I taught in private & public schools where we always allowed parents to opt their kids out of specific books… in all my years, I had a total of 2 opt outs… gave those kids other pieces to read…

found out much later that both of those kids were borrowing their friends’ books & reading them on the sly… do I wish they had been able to read in class? Of course! And if a religious view is THAT narrow, most likely the child will be homeschooled!

Daughters of the confederates, wrote most of the history books favoring the south, such as Gen Lee won the civil war. There are generations of people that believe the slaves enjoyed their jobs and loved their owners - some DNA shows they even enjoyed other things!?

Interesting view. I'm not a solid yes/no, always/never, there are shades of gray and new evidence may change some things, but alternative facts!? Some facts just can't be disputed, when there is reliable witness, science and solid evidence.

Can people let their children die from disease because they believe prayer is the only answer to disease? Can men beat their wives and children because the book they follow tells them so? Ownership of women and children by men is what this sounds like as well.

In America, many folks like to claim superiority over other religious folks (Muslim, etc). Our country is a few steps closer to being what we perceive as "inferior" & "barbaric" religious beliefs. The country wants to return to the latter 1700s when such hatred was in vogue. Sad should it happen.
