Why didn’t George W. Bush say anything when there was a fight to be had over this? Ditto for Obama. Solidarity is better than condolences.

We need more outspoken leaders.
What about Bono? Why didn't he say anything publicly? There was a time when we couldn't get that guy to shut up.
Too little support, too late to matter...
Perplexing.
Obama said plenty when he warned us for months not to let this happen. After 47 took office, there was nothing he could do to stop this. The responsibility shifted to Republicans. Bush is another story. He could have made a difference before and after the election. Don't lump Obama in with him.
I don’t blame Obama for not saying anything because I don’t think it would have helped the fight (and could have made it worse). Bush, however, continues to show that the compassionate Conservatism he hawked was a shtick, rather than something he has the courage of conviction to stand up for.
W gave us Alito. Total puke. Obama did his time, made the case for Hillary and the voters let him down.
Damn right. One was silent and the other damning with faint praise.

As if it would have made ANY difference. It was up to US to care. They’d have been mocked & dismissed. Let’s be honest.
It could be that most people nationwide, including Bush and Obama, are suffering from depression, due to the MAGA culture and the Tramp takeover, and are basically unable to muster the right words to explain how they’re really feeling.
We weren’t who we thought we were. No longer the “home of the brave.” The worst people in the world walked in and took or broke everything with nary a peep.
Our former Presidents have proved useless in our current crises.
Soooo very ...
Is simply "absorbing" an agency like USAid into the State Department at the direction of the Secretary of State even legal, highly doubtful.
They care about decorum not decency.
No balls
All dems do is criticize allies who arrive a day later than they do.
Frankly Bush and Obama are in the past. I’ve not been impressed and I have definitely not been impressed with Kamala(who I donated to and campaigned for). I think she has shown us why she was not the right person to lead, or she would be in front of the party leading! Time for a new and young!
Kamala was at the right place at the right time. She would have not won in an open primary and her supporters knew this, which is why they were adamant about her being crowned Biden’s successor. I voted for her, but it takes a different kind of fighter to take this ugly monster that Trump birthed.
Who has them?
Too late. These former presidents are derelict in their duty to speak out. They are now private citizens with the same First Amendment rights as the rest of us. Use your voice!
The same reason many other individuals stay silent. Because Trump will throw them in jail, put their families in harm's way, or both. Look at what happened to Melissa and Mark Hortman. That was Trump's handiwork. #Resist
because aWol was never terribly bright and Hussein was always a moderate republican.
W was so overcome by shame when he left office that it pretty much silenced him for good. Obama fears for the safety of his family.
Why didn't two former US Presidents and a pop singer change the fascist majority the people of the USA have elected? Is that seriously the question? No wonder the USA go down the drain with such a poor understanding how their political system works.
Vanity. Legacy. Cash. #Ozymandias
BECAUSE they are protecting their own earnings if you are looking for moral surety it is not found in most former office holders
Because that would be impolite and the Bush family are never impolite
Agree. I don't understand. As if they're extending presidential courtesy of silence to the incumbent. Incumbent didn't and never will return that courtesy. They owe it to the public to speak out.
like it would have made a difference
It took me literally SECONDS to find President Obama REPEATEDLY publicly denouncing Trump's USAID cuts Did you do ANY research before writing this? Is is just ignorance? Or is it apathy?
"Obama Slams Trump’s Plan to Scrap USAID", February 7, 2025: thedailywhistle.co.ke/obama-slams-...
"Obama and Harris publicly rebuke Trump’s second-term actions", April 4, 2025: www.cnn.com/2025/04/04/p...
Because all these former presidents are too invested in the system to admit it has been blown to pieces. And also too insulated from any and all consequences as well. American fascism is not now and never will be their lived reality.
Just completely useless at all levels!
So depressing. I expected some 007 righteousness from Obama. A lady can dream.
Cowardice.
Cowardly. I guess both fearful of their Secret Service details being pulled. Why can so many with significant platforms not state the obvious - that Trump and this administration and the MAGA movement are fundamental threats to America and the world?
Part of the final decline of the American empire, is that we do not have any real statesmen. Our so called captains have abandoned ship and have left the citizens afloat, in a turbulent sea.
You are right. It’s dispiriting and abandonment of a cause these politicians claimed to believe in
and all that food and medicine is left to rot. #Democrat #DemsUnited #StrongerTogether #SaveDemocracy #Resist #liberal #NoKings #TACO #Fascism #ice #fafo
Cus they want to collect money like every other rich dude that doesn’t care about poor pple.
Maybe Bush & Obama were waiting for Elected Politicians in Washington to do the right thing. The Former Presidents simply become Lightening Rods for MAGA GOP zealots, if they take a Stand on Issues. That's what 🇺🇸 has become now.
