Not entirely! The other reason that Truman gave the OK for use of the atomic bomb was as a warning to Russia. The Japanese were ready to negotiate, but the bombs convinced the top people that they needed to move swiftly to stop the Japanese military, who would have continued the war to the death.

Yep, the table on the open decks of the U.S. battleship Missouri, with more than many B-29 bombers flying overhead in a formation that conveyed a message in a 462 bombers convoy fashion. This pilot, before he flew helicopters to rescue the wounded and others in Nam, led a B-29 crew flying overhead.🦅
