I agree with you. His eagerness to please and lack of morals or integrity makes him the perfect terror to manipulate. They don't need Trump, they'll carry on in his name and say "this is what he would've wanted".

Trump has a hold over the entire Republican party, and that power will die with him. Yes, it's a cult, and every single Republican in DC is absolutely terrified of him and them. Vance doesn't have that power, not at all, and he's super freaking creepy. He's not electable on the national scale.
