There are other things, too. In '90, I think, FL passed a trigger lock law that if a child killed with your gun because it didn't have a lock, you could be tried for murder, after a rash of kids shot people. Toddlers, mostly. I guess it was repealed, but it stopped that particular kind of slaughter.
America, you can do it if you want it badly enough. The UK wasn't immune to school shootings, but we said enough is enough and banned pretty much all guns, had a return amnesty and mass shootings stopped. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunblan...
