Well, nobody has guaranteed time off either, and if you do, it probably won't line up with your spouse. Not to mention we need a passport to even visit our direct neighbors. I think there's a lot of reasons why we're like this.

You mean you don’t get an annual holiday entitlement 🤔 most in UK get 4 weeks paid, some 6 weeks. As for passports I have had one since I was 16 (weeks holiday in Spain with mates to celebrate leaving school) first trip to US, 3 weeks, 19 on my own and travelled around east coast inc Canada.
