west virginia sees you, fren
west virginia sees you, fren
and georgia
ATLien now, bama born raised and forever
I am currently stationed in South Carolina and I get really tired of this from my Yankee friends
Standing up for Indiana.
not doubting you at all i've just never heard cousin fucking jokes about indiana before!
I have heard them about virtually every state, because no matter what state you live in there are people who want to feel better about themselves by picking on some other state. And accusatory incest is one of the top ways to feel superior if there is any sizable rural population there.
Indiana south of Indianapolis is VERY southern-coded. In reality, the state was leaning red and had a balanced delegation, then it voted for Obama in 2008 and the state GOP absolutely lost its mind, leading to incredble gerrymandering.
Yep. I remember the whole calculus was βLetβs not be slightly less shitty policy-wise from the awfulness of Bush II, letβs just make it so we canβt lose again.β
I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your voting booth and you select that lumpy blue candidate because you're trying to tell the world that you're a good person. But what you don't know is that your state is not blue. It's not blue. It's not leftist. It's actually neolib.
or worse...it could be so blue electorally that theyre not even noelib; theyre moderate conservatives that run as DEMs because it's the only way to get elected (see: CA/NY)
Ergo, primary every motherfucker walking.
the amount of research i have to do for elections to dig into whos getting endorsed by whom because theyre all DEMs voting for judges is easy: always choose the public defender but some of the other offices you have to see who the cops endorsed vs who labor endorsed etc etc
Trotsky wanted permanent revolution. Dems in bluer-than-blue states need permament primary challenges.
let me finish the joke
And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2020, small towns across AL went for several blue candidates. And then blue quickly showed up in the campiagns of eight different counties.
Remembering the time Alabama brought the extra Dem Senator to help curtail Trump's first term... sigh.
And then it filtered down through the local elections and then trickled on down into some tragic post where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin in your brain marked "jokes".
However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs. And it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fascist empire when, in factβ¦you're voting for candidates that were selected for you by the people in the oligarchyβ¦from a pile of "libs".
That is all.
you're too good
Have I told you lately that I love you
I love you honey!

People are so obsessed with the idea they make their own choices as individuals and never want to see systemic forces that lead them there. It is sad and silly and also infuriating
exactly/could talk about the dichotomy of the illusion of personal choice vs the collective power we posses appreciate you
YES. Thatβs exactly the thing. When we pretend politics is just millions of individual choices occurring independent of each other, we lose
Thank you, Jamie.

The least bad choice is sometimes still a bad choice
my gods this setup and delivery
I'm from Ohio and I felt this thread with my whole chest. Every election, every single election, I have to hear "I'm not from Ohio, I'm from Cleveland" from these exact types of people who in fact live in Iron City or Lakewood or Parma
this is the thread/post
Folks who never fervently wished to go to space camp but whose parents wouldnβt pay for it donβt all realize Alabama is one of the original and deepest cores of our space program (because we brought a creepy nazi there and surrounded him with generations of our best engineering minds).
our entire country's modern defense is built on ideas from nazis but i digress
True, as is more of modern medicine than Iβm comfortable with.
There were more Trump voters in California than there are people in Alabama, and yet
almost in LA County alone! 1.189mil Trump Voters in LA County 1.457mil in all of AL
1.457mil trump voters in all of AL that is
fully pathetic, not to mention that a better tactic is to side-eye it the same way people side-eyed the concentration of military materiel in the south before the civil war
That's perfect image for this
the more ostensiblly left-leaning folks do it, the more they repel
haven't see any actually left-leaning people do it, only punk ass centrist libs who are very right-leaning and can fuck off forever
