Do we know what caliber rifle he used?

They said it was an imported Mauser .30-06 bolt action rifle. I still think that was a headshot that dropped.

.30-06 "older Mauser" whether that means a milsurp or a hunting rifle with a Mauser action is not clear.

Either way, with a 30.06 that's dropping, so yeah, I think @matthewbest.bsky.social is correct. Homeboy tried for a headshot and got lucky.

Another thing to consider is that he was shooting down from a pretty tall roof and basically everyone practices flat. Could easily have thrown off his elevation.
