The word was used in quotes for effect, not to indicate any support for that asshole's position. It harkens back to the days of Jim Crow from close to 100 years ago. That is the world that Homan and his crew still live in.

I try to follow MLK's admonition to judge a person by the content of their character. In today's world, it is a daily struggle, but I've met too many assholes of every race, creed, color and gender that prove his words true and bolster me.
