This, too, is deeply problematic for someone of Silver's stripe whose whole thing is making "objective" claims about shit without considering that he might be proceeding from a given positionality. Beyond that, this is massively ironic given one of journalism's adages is "consider the source."
Personally, I say we yeet Silver into the sun on the same rocket with Yglesias and their whole pundit class. It's the only way to be sure.

Silver was never formally trained as a journalist tho, was he? My understanding is he was a kind of actuary before becoming a data geek, which led to his political work/punditry around elections, which gave him the space to be a writer... AFAIK he was never introduced to journalism as a profession.
