Are you reading this post out of context? Abby isn’t saying this in support of Trump. It’s a scold on liberals who forget there are non Trump voting victims in red states.

Did you just forget I have not been talking about Trump voters. The whole thread is about those who didn’t vote for Trump, but are affected by it! And the point of that sign includes Dems who vote to support Nazis, and Nazi views! That’s what progressives are saying! Always!
U are talking about trump voters when u talk about the consequences of trumps policies on ppl who may not have voted for trump. Ur still talking about trump voters my guy. Just indirectly. How old ru?
U still haven’t answered my question. Ur calling us villains when we are victims of trumps policies. Do u want us to sit back and cry or hold trump voters responsible for their vote?
Yes, there are non-Trumpers in red states. Now is the time for them to step it up and convince the vast majority of Trumpers in their state to switch. If they can't, let them circle the drain with the Trumpers.
have you ever lived in a red state?
No. He's just busy judging them. He's no better than the people he hates. Like many people on this platform, he thinks anyone who lives in a red state votes red, and blames them if they vote blue and haven't convinced everyone else to switch parties. He's a Republican in Democratic clothing.
So, non-trump voters are supposed to convince trump voters that they’re wrong? Pfft. I won’t even converse with or hire these lunatics anymore if I can help it. They’re literally insane and this is a cult. I’m not dealing with cult lunatics. What a fucking expectation!
No. But why are they Dump cultists? How did the non-cultists do it? There must be a loose thread out there that needs to be unraveled.
Trump cultists are yt supremests and xtian nationalists
It’s true. I received a magazine in the mail for my crazy MAGA neighbor - something about persecuted Christians. I opted to recycle it rather than drop that propaganda with her. She can’t stand that this isn’t an HOA. 😂
Libertarians and isolationists. Generational mostly. Racism def. The non-cult Trump people are also libertarians, Independents, and working class swing voters. Unfortunately, it’s a money and information game, but red states have decades of Republicans doing so. We can still help. Needs help.
First thing my crazy MAGA neighbor asked me was my political party. Not state her name or ask mine. She thought because I stated independence, that meant I was a libertarian. It went downhill from there. 😂
oh lordy. I registered democrat but I am actually an independent. People are cray cray.
My mom started as a Dem cuz my dad (his family are generational Democrats and Vets)(both parents are latino) She went Independent during the 90’s cuz Neo libs. (Took my 30’s to see that connection.) She voted Dem this time, but my siblings and I had to do a lot of work as libertarians got to her.
I chose independent in 2015. Or technically NPA (no party affiliation).
I think the cultists don’t like thinking deeply and find it too hard. They want someone to smite their perceived enemies. This is often done in the name of a god.
Sorry, I meant that response for Eric Dew! I think cultists (one is a former friend who lived in fear all her life) are looking for answers to their fear, especially in a daddy-based way. They want the daddy-type to control the people and things they don’t like. It’s just my rudimentary theory.
The only thing to fear is fear itself. And FDR wasn’t just making some mystical babbling. Fear grips a person and pushes the person into irrational and damaging acts. It is important to banish fear in order to assess and solve problems.
Which is why it’s worth it to acknowledge the economy impact on the working class despite the economy overall being better under Biden. Knowing Gini coefficient vs GDP helps. Discussing neo lib Dems vs non neo lib Dems also helps a lot. That is mostly the “both parties are the same” problem.
bingo. what is their fear? Being jobless? Not having confidence to put themselves out there? Afraid of risks?
It’s def a mix. Poverty and the fear of poverty plus constant misinfo being thrown at them to keep them racist instead of blaming Republicans. Not sure about other red states, but midwest TX seems stuck on hating “establishment Dems.” They think Dems are wall street and Republicans aren’t. 😩
I think they have a lot of fears, thus a lot of hatred. The overconfident “alpha male” type is really very insecure. Another similar cult with MAGA overlap.
No
I have and most of the white people there are terrified of real talk, or the truth. You're meant to stay quite and keep the peace rather than stand up and rock the boat. I get in arguments everytime I go back to Kentucky to see my family cause the people there are morons.
Ah, yes, "convincing Republicans to change their mind". Super easy, barely an inconvenience, huh? Have you ever attempted that Sisyphean task?
I understand it’s a difficult task. But if you live in a red state and your situation is dire, you have to get that done. All I can suggest is different people should try different approaches. What works for person A may not work for person B.
Eric, friend, I hear your calm response and I appreciate it as most people responding to me just want allowance to be lazily mean to people in red states, but may I recommend slowing down. Do you know the paper we’re talking under is from a red state? People know and are working. Go look. Read.
We all have different perspectives based on our past and current experiences. I’m in SF. Deep, deep blue, right? Yet, there are people within my social circle who voted for T in 16 and again in 24. My problem is we can’t tell who is the undercover gestapo. 1/2
In your case, I suspect they’re more out in the open about their pro-T stance. In SF I knock doors during election season. 40 doors, 4 answer, 3 say, “not interested”. Engagement is tough and depressing. So for you, meeting a redcapper may not be so difficult.
No, you see. Don’t start with assumptions. Ask. A lot of people on the Internet don’t realize they don’t know everything, so assume things of others. I live in a blue state. Born and raised in TX. Family is still there. And they do talk and volunteer and send Dems to the federal House. Ken?
yah it's tough. I work with Feds that were forced into early retirement and were cultists. what else can you possibly tell them. They lost their jobs!!!!
hey! I lived in a ridiculously red county for many years and my solution was to get out. As quickly as possible. College helped. Get the kids out. They deserve a better future.
I lived in a conservative county. Once I was old enough, I left. I plan to send my kids to college overseas. Alabama blue, send your kids out of Alabama no matter how! Find any way you can! Scholarships, early jobs, whatever it takes.
I left, but my family is generational poverty levels like a lot of people where I’m from esp since the prosperity Californians took over the areas around my home city. Like the POC generations deep in the south, it’s incredibly hard to leave without money or safety nets. Guilt eats me from afar.
Giving the kids of Alabama whatever chance they can get is a solution. Even if it's just across a border. Get them somewhere with Even a sliver of opportunity.
Yeah, I hear you. My mom is an immigrant, her parents scraped together what they could so she wouldn’t be pulled into war as a teen. But what I’m saying is, do you know how when you’re too poor to pay bills on time, buy groceries, and still work? Folks need outside help. I’m trying. Been trying.
bless you.
Smart move. My understanding is that foreign college education isn’t that expensive.
A friend was telling me my daughter could just go to a school in England for acting. Not that England is doing very well right now, but it beats this crap storm.
Go balls out and try Estonia. Exotic enough to name drop. Relatively cheap. They can all speak English perfectly well.
hmmmm. Maybe. We have expat relatives in Italy so that's also an option.
I grew up in California and attended UC Santa Barbara. This was in early 80s. If I knew then what I know now regarding high education, I would’ve with both feet to a European university. Didn’t matter that I spoke the language or had kin.
ditto. I really never felt like I fit in in this country. Wish I had gone to England or Spain.
