This is not only factually inaccurate as people have died but historically misguided. All concentration camps began as prison and work camps during the Holocaust and evolved into death camps. I’ve seen this narrative repeated over and over by Israelis, and Holocaust historians correct them.
You're actually not quite correct - six camps were opened explicitly as extermination camps. They were kept secret, while all the other work camps were common knowledge.
My point here is that calling a concentration camp a concentration camp as “Alligator Alcatraz” absolutely fits the definition is not disrespectful to the Holocaust, it is is exactly how it began and this argument is another in a long line of disingenuous arguments to mitigate atrocity.
