That's all on us as messy, fallible humans who have the capactiy for both good and evil as much as we would like to believe otherwise. It is possible for us all to co-exist and just be people doing people things when you can acknowledge folks who they are even when they are not like you.
But also what you should really sit with is why you can't see another's humanness, why you can't accept them as a person unless they assimilate to your identity, your language, your culture and traditions or lack thereof.
I don't expect anyone to assimilate to my identity, to speak my languages, to have the same cultures or traditions in order for me to see who they are and accept them because despite the vast differences that may exist between us, there are also universal commonalities that connect us all.
mainly.....our humanness and the ways we experience the world around us....good or bad those experiences connect us all. I use the word relatives a lot when I am talking about different communities because we are now a global community.
And my Creek, Taino and African ancestors live cohesively on my ancestor altar.
And like relatives, some days it's gonna be a love fest & other days thunderdome. There are good relatives, bad relatives & some relatives we don't even claim depending on the day but we're all stuck with each other & our survival hinges us on us learning to be good, mildly dysfunctional relatives.
