I unsubscribed from the Washington Post and have not been watching MSNBC. But I still subscribe to 4 or 5 newspapers and many more Substacks and magazines. I’m not tuning out. I’m just tuning into different things.

Of course not all of MSNBC merits viewing I geo my real news from Nicole Wallace Deadline White House Lawrence O’Donnell and Rachel Mafdow. they are my biased and care deeply about our democracy
I would also include Joy Reid in that category too.
They’re great IMO. Not sure why people are painting every show with the same brush.
Me, too.
100% 💙
No tv news since Nov. 6th. No MSNBC. No other national news. I will grab news stories from apps of local news sources & social media. He is not my president. He’s said as much over these past 10 years. He only wants certain Americans to be represented and protected. The rest of us can go to hell.
Doing same thing. Finding old fashioned muckrakers and journalists and supporting them. No more Morning Joe etc.
Hard habit to break. Dumped Twitter last year, WaPo last month and CNN and MSNBC today. Tired of being a target of the noise cannon
The magazine I can't live without is @theprospect.bsky.social for in-depth takes on the country's changes. I donate regularly to their coverage. Any advice on how to navigate quality on Substack without going broke???
I am the last person to ask because I am going broke from all of the Substacks I follow! I wish they would have some kind of equivalent of a starter pack where you could get five Substacks for the price of one!
bsky.app/profile/todd...
Same here. NYT and WaPo subscriptions canceled. 4-5 hours of MSNBC reduced to Lawrence O’Donnell.
Dan Rather is on Substack and I love his coverage.
I have been subscribing to his Substack for a long time and I agree. I’m embarrassed about the number of Substack that I subscribe to, but maybe I will make a list.
His writing is wonderful to have to read in times like this.
Lucian Truscott IV is good too.
Yup. I’m only going to read articles that sound interesting, watch my local news and only get national news from PBS and BBC world. No more big corporate media for me.
This is me. It's called self-preservation, but also a recognition that we need to keep informed and keep up the fight, always.
Thanks for this and I’ve found a bunch to follow in the comments. I’d like to add @claireberlinski.bsky.social and her Cosmopolitan Globalist substack.
The Guardian
Yes! That is one of the five I subscribe to.
Same, same...we are complicit if we stay with the same questionable media sources. I've found overseas newspapers & magazines a good source of non-slanted American news...
Clear indication that most people who pay for subscriptions, are over feeling patronized by the mainstream media and choosing to get their news elsewhere. Paying for it is not the issue.
Exactly. So sick of SpinCo already. Legacy media isn't listening. BlueSky should be a huge wake up. Millions of us want stronger spaces like this.
The Tennessee Holler
Same. I haven’t watched MSM since the election. My husband tunes in to MSNBC, but I’m done. I’ve found other independent sites who don’t appear to be kissing trumps ass.
Same
This. I've been leaning on my local news channels and paper, local public radio and television stations, and even BBC. I want to know what's happening in the world. I do not need to read/see endless nonsense stories about polls or Trump voters and their nonreality based musings.
+1 Even with local, you might get a Sinclair station. The landscape is hard to navigate these days.
Every local station but one within a 100 mile radius of me is Sinclair owned. I log on to the websites for local news and ignore the rest. My husband watches the evening news for the weather. I personally prefer print to TV and very seldom watch.
Someone smart will keep an eye on Sinclair as conservatives try to make the case that broadcast license holders must have no political bias. Every one of their stations holds a license.
Exactly what I mean. And so many people probably have no idea. Combine that with many not as savvy as you and not knowing or trying to find alternatives…and that is a silent, scary problem.
For years, I started my days w Today & ended them w local & NBC Nightly News - haven't tuned into any of them since 11/5. And I've basically left "my (e)x" - but my sports & wx ppl aren't here. I am feeling a bit like I'm stumbling in the dark. Big changes for someone who finds comfort in routine!
I grew up starting my days with Today and then switched to Morning Joe. I stopped watching MSNBC at 9 pm on 11/5 so it will be 3 weeks on Tuesday and I’m already developing new routines. Give it time. This place is growing. I’m still on X for some of the political data guys but they are moving here.
Same. Morning Joe with my cup of coffee most mornings for eight years. Done with all of it. Moved completely to print media including many you have mentioned. Think MSNBC will be surprised how many of us will not return.
Thank you. And same, my grandparents and parents always watched NBC - it's been kind of a security blanket in life. Very disappointed, to say the least, in their lack of full reporting and sane-washing of all things Tr*mp. So here we are.
Thankfully, Sinclair hasn't bought any of my local stations.
yes, our Sinclair station is a sparkling festival of pretty girls sane-washing the Trump picks
My former favorite local station in Providence is Sinclair owned. I couldn’t understand why WJAR NBC 10 was bashing Hillary so much in 2016, but soon found out why & stopped tuning in to their news broadcasts.
I stopped @ 15 years ago, I found they only covered surface topics, and repeatedly. I follow my own local paper, and lots of independent journalists and am now much better informed, at my own time and pace.
I unsubscribed to every newspaper but the Philadelphia Inquirer. Occasionally read Atlanta Constitution. Haven't watched cable since July. BlueSky is now my primary source for breaking news.
📌
I’m done with billionaire publishers bullying editor and writers into normalizing fascists and anarchists. You can give them air time, but I’m not consuming it.
Same even with the fear of sounding like an echo chamber (but really who gives a fuck LMAO)
@mcuban.bsky.social
Exactly. No msm here or newspapers but I am still very informed
💯
@msnbc is FAR more than MorningJoe. There are shows that do report, have analysis of what T. & those who does help him do what he wants to us & our country. One is Deadline White House which is excellent; I watch th day after on Peacock b/c I don’t have cable. T.will hate it b/c he hates facts, truth.
I only watch media's Brian and David pack stopped watching all mainstream media during the election they excused DT ish treated VP Harris wrongly..smh
Dropped the Post and switched to the @inquirer.com (Philadelphia Inquirer). It’s run by a non profit.
Same! Plus you get @willbunch.bsky.social
Thank you, I’ll keep an eye out for his articles!
@meidastouch.bsky.social
Same
I read from many different sources. WaPo, NYT, WSJ are no longer included. Such a horrible failure on their part. Or maybe not. They helped elect the guy who will best benefit the bosses.
Yep me too
@juddlegum.bsky.social I would add to any list
Yes, he was one of the first I subscribed to.
Important points, Ellen. Thanks for posting.
@bostonglobe.com has been doing a better job than Washington Post and NYT
I am right there with you... I won't click on anything from corporate media... and I am way better informed.
That’s me in a nutshell now. I’m over mainstream media and all the silly opinion hosts. And as if I needed any more validation: Joe and Mika prostrating themselves at mar a lago last week cemented my feeling.
Your post describes me almost exactly. Dropped WaPo, but still have New York Times, The Atlantic, and my local newspaper. Also having listened for a few years to Charlie Sykes and Tim Miller I'm thinking about finally joining the Bulwark instead of listening for free.
Yes, I subscribe to the Atlantic, the New Yorker and the New Republic. I have a paid subscription to @thebulwark.bsky.social and I think it’s worth it. I also subscribe to way too many Substacks.
The Guardian has the best news coverage of DC. Ironically it’s a UK paper.
Yes, I started subscribing to @theguardian.com after a presentation by the @mediaanddemocracy.bsky.social a few months ago when they urged us to change our media diet.
Me too. This 💯
I listen to NPR, read The Wire, Atlanta, The Economist. I'm a pretty happy person. What else are some good reads and stations?
Same. I don’t trust many institutions anymore, but I trust some individual sources of information.
Yes same They need to look at themselves in the mirror and admit they are the problem
Me too!
Same!
DITTO!
There are lists here of independent news/reporters from various states also. I follow a few. really good reporting ie @thetnholler.bsky.social for example just fyi
Me too. Is there a nazi-free, fact-filled alternate media starter pack someone has curated? I’m so sick of giant conservative ownership/newsrooms. Trusted media/ownership is hard to find.
Me too. I have learned a lot from Heather Cox Richardson newletter and Ezra Klein show podcast.
And the Guardian
The Guardian, The Philadelphia Inquirer are great newspapers.
I subscribe to them and outside country papers too. We hear nearly zero about world events.
Agree!
@newrepublic.bsky.social
@thenation.com
Those are two that I subscribe to.
The Inquirer is owned by a non-profit and The Guardian is owned by the British equivalent of a public benefit corporation. This is the way. For profit media is killing us.
This is the way.
Mother Jones is a great source of information
Agree! Also subscribe to @davidcorn.bsky.social’s newsletter.
Thanks, I will check it out.
Thank you I just did !
That’s a good point. I should send them so dough, too.
Ellen, this is me EXACTLY.
Blue Sky. Midas +. HRC letter. Some other substacks and Rachel and Lawrence. Retired but I’ve turned off the my daily MSNBC habit.
I’ve stopped listening to the news on my way into work, I stopped listen to it about 2 weeks before the election and I just got so sick of the same sh*t, I still have the NYT and Washington Post but I mainly check my Apple News app or on here for current affairs
I no longer watch MSNBC. Haven’t watched CNN in years. Get my news from these social sites now & Meidas Touch.
Same here.
Don’t pay money to them just get on Bluesky And read the news you can read the news there’s a News handle it’s OK stop subscribing to that crap if you look on their local tv news channels you can read Articles in every state of the nation it’s free and safe! Just look up NBC any city! All cities!
Absolutely. I cancelled my NYT subscription and would never go back. I don’t watch cable news in any event—it’s all garbage. I re-subscribed to Talking Points Memo (TPM) in the wake of the election. I get the New Yorker and also read The Nation on occasion. Pro Publica and the Guardian are good
Same!
The Guardian is good.
Yes, that is one of the newspapers I subscribe to online. I subscribed to @theguardian.com after @mediaanddemocracy.bsky.social visited a @markers4democracy.bsky.social zoom a few months ago and suggested that we change our media diet.
Virginia Mercury is good journalism, a bit regional though
#Same
Exactly
Same
I would really like to see a billionaire like Mark Cuban buy and support some TV news. The right wing money behind Fox, etc is crazy.
🙋🏽♀️ Haven't watch MSM Cable/TV news in years. I also bailed from NYT and WaPo. I look for accurate, thoughtful, reasoned journalism, not editorials.
I'm seriously and desperately looking for the same. What do you folks use?
I use aggregate news services. Ground News is subscription but it's pretty good. Even Google news page is an aggregate. Read foreign news like AFP, Euronews, etc. We think we know what other countries think of us.....we don't.
I know what they think of us. We're the wealthy drunk uncle at the family gathering. We're boors, loud, rude, and overly prideful. But seriously, thank you for the reminder to look at foreign news services.
I really want this to get out there, not to "gain clout," but because it's important people understand why being a billionaire itself is a danger to society, even if they have good intentions, do the right thing, etc. Billionaires. Are. Dangerous.
Actually some of articles I've read expressed sympathy. They see all the wealth being sucked out of the middle class. There is some solidarity out there.
👍🏽
Ditto.
100%
I unsubscribed from the WaPo & NY Times after the 1st debate, when I realized the MSM was never going to cover TFG critically. This sealed the deal. newrepublic.com/article/1547...
!!!
I do not subscribe to any newspapers. Stopped viewing MSNBC/ CNN do view Weather Channel & NFL , NHL MLB Netflix British 🇬🇧 programs
Me, too.
Yes I unsubscribed to NYT and LATimes after being a longtime subscriber. I’ve stopped watching MSNBC and CNN. I left Twitter last week. I too am tuning into other sources now for my news.
I couldnt agree more. I dont need a liberal media like Fox News propoganda for the GOP. I want a media that has the courage like Lawrence ODonnell to report the news.
Tennesee Holler is good as well.
Also support nonprofit journalism :)
Yes. I support @propublica.org and @motherjones.com as well as some local New York independent nonprofits.
Timothy Snyder, too. His writing is bracingly difficult to read sometimes but I need to truth however I can get it. The "legacy" media and pretty much all of msnbc which I used to watch constantly -- it's all the same regurgitated stuff. I can't stomach hearing it anymore.
We have the power to switch this whole narrative on this corrosive for profit model of news. three branches of govt have been captured by corporations and billionaires. Hopefully we can hold on to the 4th branch.
same.
I paid for a year of @thewarningses.bsky.social substack because it allows others to get it free. Plus it came with a few others columns as part of a package. I have great daily info for less than .20 a day. I don’t need Wash Po
Same.
Did you know that if you subscribe to a cable TV package that you are sending about $50/year to Fox News Corp and only about $4/year to NBC, parent of MSNBC? Yes, that’s four dollars. Starve Fox by cancelling your cable package. Do it today! U can still watch NBC by subscribing to Peacock
I'm seriously considering switching from Astound RCN cable to YouTube TV so less of my money goes to Fox News Corp. I was only keeping it to have access to CSPAN and now I don't want to watch it anymore.
Do you have a Roku or FireStick? It acts as a remote control and you can use it to access local/national news without funding Fox/OAN/Newsmax and other GOP propagandists.
No, I have smart TV's now.
Yeah, I do too. The FireStick works in tandem with it providing a second way of accessing content.
Got it. My only other issue is YouTube TV doesn't carry Lifetime and my Astound RCN has these below apps that aren't on my Smart TV's- LG (Acorn, Hoopla, MHz Choice, PBS, Roku and Viki) and Vizio (Hoopla, MHz Choice, Roku and Viki).
I watch PBS, Hoopla, Kanopy, and lots of other services using the FireStick. A good bit of that content is provided free. If more of us dumped our 'cable' TV bundles Fox will feel the pain. On the way out tell your provider you're canceling bc they don't offer a Fox-free package.
I recently cut the cord from Uverse after many years, and it feels good. I got a Tablo TV device and I'm really amazed as to the picture quality that can be gotten over digital antenna. I half expect this current crop of "how can I get rich" folks to find a way to ruin digital OTA broadcasts.
Thanks for this info. I'll look into it.
Substack is literally a billionaire's investment in right wing propaganda.
Same! 💙
What did MSNBC do that you resigned from watching them? What negative reporting was it or what did they not report?? Thanks.
This! We all need to be doing this.
🎯🎯🎯✅✅✅
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Substack has turned out to be a solid and underrated breakdown of the news for me.
Heather Cox Richardson and Joyce Vance substacks are keeping me sane. I’ll have to check out Kareem.
Kareem’s Substack makes my Tuesday and Friday mornings. You should check it out. I got it for free for about two-months before I had to subscribe to it.
He's fabulous!
He is such a good writer!
But how many substacks can on possibly afford? UGH
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the only one I have a paid subscription to at the moment. Heather Cox-Richardson and MSW provide their Substack content for no charge.
Thanks! I will definitely check it out!
Damn, I wish my father were alive to learn about this.
Why are you punishing all the great host on MSNBC like Hayes, Maddow, Velshi and the progressives and stories they air that aren’t seen anywhere else. We need to support them not make it easier to silence them. How many of us would know who Marc Elias was if not for MSNBC
I probably will go back to watching Chris Hayes, Ali Velshi, and Rachel Maddow. But right now I’m happy to have the tv off and get the news from newspapers, independent news sites, magazines, and Substacks.
I get it. lol in 16’ I binge watched superhero movies and TV for months
I’m listening to NPR and podcasts like @gregsargent.bsky.social’s excellent Daily Blast. And reading a lot. I just don’t need the “Breaking” chyron right now. That may change.
Don't leave out lawrence O'Donnell
I am doing the same thing. I am not tuned out at all. But I won’t support the legacy media when all they do is go for clicks and revenue and refuse to inform. I will support independent media while the legacy media dies out.
I think of it as useful vs clickbait journalism. There are plenty of 'legacy media' that do a fine job. Legacy vs non-legacy isn't the best description of the dividing line.
That is probably true. But my subscription dollars go to the organization and not just the people who are good. For me, I will no longer support those organizations, hence my description.
I did the same on Washington Post and MSNBC. Also watch no other tv news. I haven’t stop staying informed. I just have switched to more reliable sources that do not sane wash Trump and his corrupt cohorts.
I am done with all those mfkrs
I'm with you. I'm fed up with MSM normalizing Trump, a fake Christian, rapist, convicted felon, alleged Epstein pedophile, and blatant traitor to US and our Constitution. It's well past time for media to report honestly and throughly, or be left behind. They've blown opportunity again and again.
Same
I also am really tired of their "nobody reads anymore" excuse for losing subscribers. I LOVE to read, as do most of my friends and family. As long as it's the truth and not something spun to meet an agenda, I want to read it.
I did too - the non-endorsement was just the last straw. They're still denying their slanted coverage, their sane-washing, their hiding anything positive about Biden/Harris. I cancelled NYT too, but just subscribed to the Guardian, looking for others.
Same. I won’t stand for gaslighting
Same.
Jen Psaki and Claire McKaskill (and so many others) are part of the ongoing problem with legacy “news” media. It’s Bread and Circus crap theater. It needs to die.
@jenpsaki.bsky.social
Same
Same here
WaPo is the last msm I'm subscribing to, and I probably won't renew. They just don't understand that their normalization of the possible demise of democracy, isn't worth paying for.
What did I miss? What’s wrong with MSNBC?
A mouthpiece for their wealthy owners. They brutalized Biden 24-7 for being too old, but sane washed Trump’s obvious dementia and crazy commentary. They both sides everything that only has ONE side …democracy not fascism! Final straw Joe S bending the knee to 🍊. The end.
Joe was always an idiot. He didn’t turn the rest of the network bad. Like I said, people need to chill.
Truth
Idk. Rachel and Lawrence = pretty powerful. The evening people didn’t particularly sanewash. Never liked Morning Joe anyway.
The model of news is changing and cannot justify the million dollar salaries of stars who aren’t really stars. Good commentators will survive.
Exactly. So just the morning Joe thing is what people are freaking out about? I thought something else happened. People need to chill, lol. Good lord.
I’ve stopped watching entirely, mainly because I’ve needed space to not be enraged but will always appreciate Lawrence & Rachel. That said, if the daytime line up with the likes of Katy Tur & Andrea Mitchell don’t make you pause *EVER* then maybe ask yourself if you’ve moved right, too.
I could NEVER watch Andrea since 2016. It was agony due to her word searching. Plus her obvious privilege. It was too difficult for me.
I don’t have cable, so my intake is just what Lawrence and Rachel have on YT. And even then it’s only particular topics. That’s said, just listening someone speak doesn’t mean you agree with them.
Maybe I wasn’t specific enough…. “Just listening to someone speak”- when (for example Katy & Andrea) push contrarian, RW talking points in interviews thinking their manufactured skepticism makes them appear enlightened on the topic, it’s just enraging - and not something Lawrence or Rachel ever do
It was pent up frustration I think. Now Comcast is selling it off. So no center left media will be left unless it can continue to operate somehow. All cable channels are dinosaurs tho.
My kids who are fairly well informed do not watch any cable.
Neither do I. I haven’t had cable since 2018. But I do watch a few MSNBC shows on YouTube. Morning Joe was never one of them.
They are selling it of because they expect the Trump administration to do good on their promise and punish those who said negative things about him. They don’t want that to affect their other services.
I’m sure they would have held it if Harris won but alas for them they don’t want the headache. MSNBC is a tiny pimple on their enormous behind. Not a money maker.
Yeah, so what if they’re liars, right?
Lawrence O’Donnell is not a liar. And who the f are you?
I think Lawrence is the best among them besides Maddow. These people will land in their feet and be podcasters. They have a following.
Do you need help? You said Morning Joe, Einstein.
I said in other posts that Joe was an idiot and I never watched him. And the rest on the network are good people. My point was not watching and bad mouthing the network because of one program is fucking dumb.
Is that an actual troll?
It’s as far left as you’ll get on MSM. I guess there are some other day folks people don’t like but I do like my evening dose. I guess that’s not cool to say but who cares?
I watch a bit of it too on YT. But I know it’s bias. I think that’s the main issue. Diversify sources of news and know their slant.
I did the same when WaPo didn’t endorse Harris. MSM treated this election like any other political contest. Normalized a fascist candidate. Lots of other choices for facts with the courage to speak the truth. (I also cancelled Amazon but I may need a 12-step program for that one.)
Ditto
Same here. I stopped tuning into the mainstream media news November 5th, opting for additional news sources, unsubscribing from the Washington Post and subscribing to more Substack contributors. Haven’t regretted it.
Unsubscribed from WAPO, and also not watching MSNBC.
Same here. I stopped watching tv news months ago and continue to rely on news outlets that I trust to be unbiased.
You are my spirit Animal!
Same.
Likewise.
I am doing the same! Flushing US CORPORATE MagaMedia down the toilet!
Yes, exactly this. I’m going to pay for content that informs me, but I’m looking for niche/independent media more and more
Canceled my WP subscription and now my $ go to The Guardian. Also Mother Jones. The @washingtonpost.com was such a major disappointment this last year.
100%
I think your post captures the feeling/actions of MANY disappointed voter after this election - well said.
💯. the guardian. philly inquirer. the atlantic. joyce vance substack. more. traditional media can kiss my ass good bye.
Can we get a new name for magazine? lol…I hate that the word “MAGA” is in it.
Switched to the BBC for world news and state outlets. Occasionally check out CSPAN.
💯 same
Same here!
I didn’t unsubscribe to WAPO because I support some of the individual journalists. I also subscribe to several newspapers across the country.
🎯
Exactly. I was addicted to MSNBC for 9 years. I have not watched since election day. Same for New York Times, stopped reading at the beginning of the year. Im done with them all.
I was an “MSNBC mom” so it feels weird to go cold turkey off of them but listening to more music and podcasts and in the morning I’m listening to Morning Edition on @npr.org.
Did you see MTG and the DOGE are going after NPR because it is a democrat show
Well in all honesty, NPR deals with facts and reality and that is very pro Democrat and Anti Republican!
Hence why they are going after NPR
We are living on Earth 2 in an alternate universe
Same. So much the same.
Definitely feels weird going cold turkey but I am done with. Just done. I dont even listen in the car anymore.
Yes. Yes. 1000 times yes.
I have been donating to AP also… deleted all and plan to read AP and Reuters.
📌
Same! Have not watched MSNBC since Election Day - so I missed the Joe and Mika Appeasement Parade. Cancelled the Post after the bold decision by Jeffy to not endorse for POTUS. And have not purchased a thing from Amazon since - and I sheepishly admit they used to come to my house daily.
I'm with Ellen here. I subscribed to the Washington Post for 8 years. Same for the LA Times. Similar for the New Yorker, the Atlantic, and a few others. In the last year I've been canceling these subscriptions for a combination of reasons (they let go folks I liked to read while keeping
abject tools, they spent months talking about Bidens age and then suddenly forgot Trump was old when Kamala became the nominee and other asymmetric coverage, etc.). But I didn't stop reading and supporting news. I still support @theguardian.com and the East Bay Times. I also support these smaller
not for profit places like @propublica.org, @texastribune.org, @arktimes.bsky.social and smaller outlets like @404media.co, @techdirt.bsky.social, @tpm.bsky.social and individuals like @radleybalko.bsky.social and @juddlegum.bsky.social
If these larger outlets want to continue alienating folks like me to pander to people who will never subscribe to them, then that's their choice. I can also make choices.
We still need Rachel Maddow.
Me, too
📌
I avoid broadcast media but I will read their online stuff, sometimes.
I wish I could unsubscribe from New York Times because I can’t stand how they amplify every ridiculous thing coming out of the Trump camp at the expense of covering the normal things that Harris did, but the rest of NY Times is usually really good.
I haven't been able to watch MSNBC since the election. Too many talking heads and pundits. There's hardly any reporting on news events, national or international. Every time I turn it on, it's just repetitive freak outs about the election. I'm exploring the newsletter Tangle (just subscribed).
Exactly. The only 2 that I might go back to watching are Chris Hayes and Velshi because they both tend to report on underreported stories. But I am tired of the punditry. Yesterday I went on 2 Substack livestreams that were good — one with @rbhubbell.bsky.social & one with @anandwrites.bsky.social
Ruhle is good on economic issues.
Agree but not watching at 11 o’clock at night. I may go back.
💯
I missed what happened with MSNBC.
Yes!!!
I will never watch MSNBC ever again. The good hosts should leave and create their own YouTube presence to save their reputations.
Same. My WaPo money went to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
I won't watch anything that shows his face or plays his voice. And I won't watch or read anyone who is obeying in advance.
Exactly this.
THIS!! 🔼
Morning Joe has gone dark at our house. My wife watched it every morning until Joe and Mika kissed the ring.
I do miss Steve Ratner and his charts.
Same at our house. No MSNBC or CNN since the election.
My husband is very happy that I stopped watching. He used it as an alarm clock. As soon as Joe started bloviating, it was time to get in the shower, get dressed, and go to work.
I call this fine-tuning. 🙂
I try to listen, read and watch everything in moderation I even listen to a conservative radio station in my car Can’t stomach Fox and friends though lol
Same here! I’m keeping up just not using my usual means
Ditto😟😟😩🤷♂️🙏
Exactly right. I’ve become disgusted with the sane-washing, gaslighting crap being dispensed by NYT and WaPo in particular.
Which papers ? I’d love to know
@thebulwark.bsky.social is my go to
Also, support The Guardian.
I would also add Heather Cox Richardson's "Letter from an American". She is on SubStack.
HCR & Amy Siskind saved my sanity first time around
I only found out about HCR this June and absolutely love her daily emails.
I have learned as much abt the past as I have abt current events from her. She is awesome.
Philly Inquirer Boston Globe ProPublica Rolling Stone Vanity Fair Medias Touch The Bulwark The Guardian Mother Jones The Nation The Texas Tribune (usually) Mississippi Free Press Business Insider The Onion McSweeny’s There are more…off top of my head. Also great nonprofits like Democracy Docket
I'd add Teen Vogue to that list. They've been pretty good.
Add @arktimes.bsky.social
Done, thanks!
Thank you!
The Miami Herald still remains good.
I subscribed for a while. But there’s only so much I can read.
The Guardian US and The Guardian are good.
Please try @bylinetimes.bsky.social
@zeteo.com @levernews.com
Yes, I also subscribe to @zeteo.com.
The Guardian. I stick with NYT understanding that it is not perfect. Philly inquirer if applicabel
I still subscribe to the @nytimes.com despite concerns about normalizing Trump. I subscribe to @inquirer.com mostly for @willbunch.bsky.social. @theguardian.com @haaretzcom.bsky.social @nydailynews.com because I want there to be real competition to the odious New York Post. And @propublica.org
Excellent choices.
I dumped the @nyt-first-said.bsky.social a long time ago, and never going back. The rest is the same as you said. I will also follow individual reporters I feel can be relied upon despite the publication's editorial conduct. @gregsargent.bsky.social is an excellent one.
Big fan of his podcast. He was my favorite columnist at the Washington Post. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
fuk the @nytimes.com

I think Josh Marshall is the most important liberal voice we have imo
We don’t need to listen to liberal voices. We need to listen to the truth.
The truth has a liberal bias, usually.
Agree. I like the fact that he’s thoughtful and the fact that he doesn’t engage in the hot take discourse.
