It wasn’t the BBC, it was ITV. Free speech: if he truly believed it then he can say it. What should happen is he should be challenged over it, told to produce evidence and, if he can’t, made to retract the statement. Free speech does not mean free of consequences.

He works for/appears on the BBC. Just like Gary Lineker. The difference is that Gary said things which ran counter to the narrative the BBC pushes
