Brooklyn (Kings County) and Queens (Queens County) are absolutely "on Long Island". They just aren't referred to as "Long Island" because they're part of NYC.

You sound fucking stupid. So is Haiti on the DR or is the DR on Haiti. You’re making a moronic argument.
.... both countries are on the island of Hispaniola. Just like King's, Queen's, Nassau, and Suffolk counties are all on Long Island. I'm actually surprised that you chose the perfect analogy to discredit yourself and your argument. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispani...
Look, this is my fault. Not theirs. I started this debate because I was trying to find a diplomatic way of saying "racist white GOP voters" without actually saying it, and the only time I've been to New York I was armed and in a closed off portion of the airport awaiting a transfer.
They’re still making a fucking stupid argument. And maybe you should get engaged in your local politics and keep your bad takes about NYCs to yourself.
Take a beta blocker and lie down. And stop picking fights in which you are demonstrably wrong.
My take on the fact that Mamdani wins because the racist GOP have no one to coalesce about isn't bad. What's bad is you cosplaying your anger management issue as if it's an identity.
They’re not considered Long Island. They’re part of NYC. You’re obviously not from New York. My parents were both born in Flushing, Queens and raised in Valley Stream on Long Island in Nassau County. I was born in Smithtown in Suffolk County as were all my siblings.
General question: Is Long Island pro-Jew, pro-Israel?
There are a lot of Jews on Long Island.
Lisa and @ektashahmd.bsky.social I asked because someone who DARVO'd the N*zi word to my face went to Long Island for a vacation, & I wondered if someone there possibly would have been Zionists who would have corrected her libelous information. I tried to but frankly, I didn't succeed
Somewhat of a tangent, but this used to exist on Long Island: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Si... I used to associate Long Island with Jews until I learned this bit of history. I’m not a New Yorker though, so it’s not like I have any real knowledge of the area
Thank you. (Sadly, to see this)
WHOA!
Long Island is pretty large. There was also the largest NAZI rally held in Madison Square Garden in 1939. My Jewish grandparents & great grandparents lived a few miles away from there when it happened & my Jewish grandparents raised my mom & her sister in Valley Stream, NY which is in Long Island.
Is it LI where trump's grandfather participated in a KKK-nazi rally?
There are also plenty of anti Black racists on Long Island.
My grandfather was part of the Jewish counterprotest. He was a boxer in his 20s but I'm still pretty sure my grandmother wasn't happy that he went.
I don't expect people to be 1 topic voters but I see being against Islamist-Communist as being pro-every topic. And I see trump as bad too with as much power as the Islamist-communists-bad side. I hate seeing so many "proIsrael/pro-Jews are RW. LOL
I've really seen how both the RW and LW have squeezed Jews and normalized hate, discrimination, violence, and pogroms against Jews. Right now, the ethnic cleansing and genocide was done to Jews and the intifada is "global" now but Israel will save Jewish lives in the diaspora unlike before.
Do you have a blog where you tell your family's story or a book on it? I hope for your own family, you've made one at least. :) But if you have a public one... I'd read it. Though part of the reason I stay involved is because I now understand more than I did pre-10/7/23
Yay for you for researching & growing your base of knowledge. My Jewish dad spent part of this summers as a kid on Long Island with family who lived in old farm houses, converted chicken coops, nothing glamorous. I associate LI w their Italian neighbors which probably proves it's a melting pot!
I only asked out of the selfish hope that someone or many there would have defended Israel from that libel.
Ah I only know what Howard on Twitter reports
Thank you! Appreciate your response!
Howard (my Jewish friend) tells me yes and yes
Born and raised, actually. I understand the distinction - nobody would say "I'm going to Long Island" if they're going to Queens or Brooklyn. But it is incorrect to say that Brooklyn and Queens are not part of Long Island. They are.
Also, Brooklyn & Queens are located on opposite ends of the city. Brooklyn is downtown, Queens is uptown
Uh - apologies for the confusion. I am NOT from NY, and I was using "Long Island" as a pseudonym for the white, GOP dominated areas of the city. I didn't mean to be taken literally.
Being physically located on Long Island doesn’t make it Long Island in terms of voting. Voting wise it’s still part of nyc
Yes I know.
