My Dad, who taught me to drive, used to sit with his hand resting oh so casually on the handbrake while I was driving. He was also the bloke who said "do as I say, not as I do," when I called him out for doing 160 in a 100 zone.
I do this too, but to be fair to my husband, I was sandwiched between two larger vehicles a few years back and it left me emotionally scarred (and with bad knees).
