I get the frustration with the fucking dipshits, but: If the people harrassing someone are sharing things off bluesky, ITS NOT ON BLUESKY. so, how are they supposed to moderate people who Potentially DONT EVEN HAVE A BLUESKY ACCOUNT?

You can moderate based on behaviour on other websites.

You moderate the accounts sharing iton BlueSky, who do, obviously, have BlueSky accounts and are subject to moderation. Does dealing with text in images from external sites as part of moderation require more manual review? Yes. Is it intractable? No.

I agree, but that does not solve the other problem, attackers can always move faster than moderation since moderation has to be alerted to harassmet after it has already started.

The problem they are being criticized for is that they not doing – and publicly announcing a practice of not doing – that which is very practical, not that they aren’t managing to do that which is impossible. So, sure, there are problems that are irreducible, but they aren’t the issue.

“Doing what is practical won’t solve every possible problem” is not an excuse for doing nothing when doing what is practical will solve the particular problem people are complaining about.

Thats not what I said. Im not here to pretend they're doing all they can. I litterally said they should do more. And you dont seem interested in actually discussing. So im not going to respond further.

Sure, they can't stop people looking at the site. But if they're publicly known figures they can ban their recognizable accounts from participating in the community they're actively abusing.

He is, he has one, and he's been suspended twice already and labeled once, which has also been removed.

Then yes they should ban him, yes; but that wont solve the problem generally. I would love to see it solved somehow but I dont think it can be. bsky is available to the public so its impossible to stop people planning harassment off site (dms, etc) and then coming over here and conducting raids.

Also, they should probably use IP bans so the bans are a little more impactful if they havent already, otherwise idk what they can do on a systemic level other than up their moderation team further and develop beter systems, but that will take time, and will have missteps. Bsky is barely past beta.
