I've lived and voted in 7 states and never seen a hand counted paper ballot in my life. I've used fill in the bubble ballots, but they all went into an optical scanner by my own hand. Only remote rural polling places use hand counted paper ballots. Every urban voter had their vote reduced MORE!
I've lived most of my life in small, Democratic states - CT, NH, HI. Since each state gets 2 senators, your INDIVIDUAL influence in the senate = 2 / state's population. Influence is INVERSELY proportional to population. Bigger is weaker! A WY voter has 39,430,000 / 587,618 = 67.1 x a CA voter.
This weakens that even further!! The framers gave us a way to fix that in Article 4 Section III on division of states BUT VOTERS EXERCISED THAT RIGHT ONLY TWICE! To divide Virginia from Kentucky and again to create West Virginia. The More States Option corrects that AND gives Dems 2/3+ majority.
When discussion of this proposal started, #Putin did the math and saw HE LOSES! All his plans for 30 years go up in smoke over a long overlooked clause in the constitution. That's when he started panicking. More states! More senators! More electoral votes! Pass amendments! Dem Majority This Term!
Oh yeah!!! If Texas were to divide into states, with rational borders which CAN NEVER BE ALTERED BY FUTURE REDISTRICTING the new states would have a small Democratic MAJORITY. That's when Abbot went loco. Florida is not so clear cut, but will probably be 50/50 with neutral effect on votes.
Whatever state Houston landed in would be Blue AND CONTROL OFFSHORE OIL ACCESS! Just realized that. No wonder Texas GOP went mas loco.
