The United States has imposed sanctions on officials of the International Criminal Court (ICC) who are investigating cases against the US or Israel. The move will also protect Putin’s Russia and the Taliban in Afghanistan as the US attack will weaken the court’s authority and sabotage key members.
Trump has now blatantly aligned himself with Putin and Netanyahu.

If there are no cases to answer then it shouldn't concern the US government. Of course if there are cases to answer then this action looks like the guilty trying to prevent those crimes becoming public.
