Cottondale Alabama cornbread is the best cornbread, a hill I’ll die on.
it has a texture half life of about half an hour but man is it good when it’s fresh
My grandfather used to put chunks of day old cornbread into a glass of milk and eat it with a spoon. Old timey southern stuff.
I keep meaning to try this because I have been told it’s good multiple times
It is!
My grandparents did that with buttermilk!
Yes! My granddad called regular milk sweet milk because if you said just milk it could be either. It is SO GOOD in buttermilk.
Mine too! They were from Alabama. Sweet milk lol.
Mississippi here, lol
Cornbread baked in cast iron is the sh*t! ♥️
Love it. I would do this with the Boy Scouts when camping, Cooking Merit Badge.
If you can get some local honey it's truly one of life's great simple pleasures. (Uh, no honey for anyone under the age of one year, though.)
🤤
I’m putting a drop cloth down for the toddler this time
Won't help much.
That's browned beautifully.
Oooo, nextime add a mixture of melted butter and honey to the mix
Sweet or savory? (I like both, I just need to know what to expect. 🤣)
Savory!
