One of the things that history can end up distorting, and this can be rather intentional, based on who's writing the histories, is who was actually famous/popular/well known to normies. In 1917, to a normie in Petrograd, the Bolshiveks were the Party of Trotsky.

But of course Lenin was honestly the more important force in the Party, and the government following October. He's Premier, after all. So he takes the focus. Aided by a Soviet State, under Stalin, that was eager to downplay even bury Trotsky.
