It’s not even a full size sketch book. It is like 5x7 and each page has six storyboard pages—with sub-panels. This doesn’t feel normal to me. Like it is some word artist superpower. Like those people who carve whole sculptures on grains of rice.

When we met, Hugo was a full-time pedicab driver for tourists in New Orleans who had a background in graphic design. Neither of us had any training in creating graphic narratives. And he didn’t go to art school.
