CORRECTION, you step out with the foot at the TOP of the stroke, not the bottom. Just took a ride and watched how I did it.

Start on grass and you'll figure it out pretty quick. They are a great cycling upgrade.

Also, think about Joe Biden in toe clips falling over and people making fun of him as you realize clipless are a learning experience, but toe clips are exponentially harder to use and most people would be eating shit all the time.

You'll have a natural side. Put foot down at stops and and you lean over slightly and you step off. So, always go with that side. Quick shift outward with the foot at the bottom of the stroke. Start on grass a few times. Once you have it, it becomes natural, but you'll still fall over occasionally
