I’m a prof of science education - I lost my NSF grants (STEM ed made up 75% of NSF grant terminations) and today SCOTUS paved the way to dismantle the Department of Education. its funny cause in my mind I feel like having a rational conversation with people in specific areas about what the politicians they’ve been electing have done historically, there’d be a way find common ground on issues affecting every day life.. then I come back to reality & realize its a lost cause

The thing they fail to understand is that there are more people in the population than them. If society chose to rise up in sufficient numbers against them, their power would end. It is the people who actually hold all of the power.

Unfortunately, they can’t control every media out there these days. In the 70s, they could control the media. In the Internet age, that they’re even trying shows just how naive and incompetent they are. They would literally have to shut down the entire Internet to gain full control.

I was more referring to the consolidation of local news networks (ie sinclair) & every major newspaper (& subsidiaries) being bought up by billionaires to control the narrative & spread corporate propaganda fluff pieces. I don’t think anyone could’ve foreseen how social networks would impact society
