Public opinion: on the right they say that Veldkamp and NSC walked away too easy. On the left they say Veldkamp was right to leave but too late. In general: lot of discontent about the government’s restraint with anti-Israel measures.

Veldkamp is a former ambassador of the Netherlands in Israel and has not taken the decision to leave lightly, I think. The Netherlands has a huge business presence in Israel and the old liberal (rightwing) party the VVD is serving their interests

This was clearly a political decision by the NCS. With the government already in a caretaker role and unlikely to win any seats in the upcoming elections, they can afford to take a more principled stance now.
