More evidence today (my opinion)... People who feel like they have religion on their side are that much more likely to behave irrationally. Their dogma makes them feel like they operate on a higher plane...and a "get out of jail free" card. My opinion: the US Constitution IS the higher plane.

Why are you telling me what I mean? Christianity. Islam. Judaism (my tribe of birth). Any others who tell you it's their way or the bad highway. Different degrees of dogma.

No doubt there have been studies to validate that. The behavior part is fact beyond statistical doubt. The higher plane part is opinion. Since none of us know it all, I celebrate their right to believe so long as it doesn't interfere with my right not to.

So many fake patriots wrapping their hate in the American flag and the Bible. My neighbors preacher tells them every Sunday that President Ped O File is on a mission from God. Yet they won't even look at our black neighbors. Definitely not what Jesus would do.

Of course there's no direct correlation between relgiosity and intolerance or delusion. And I'm the first to admit I don't know everything. Catholics could have it right. As long as they don't interfere with my rights, live as you see fit. 😍

My belief in God and Jesus keeps me from doing more things that I know are wrong. We all make mistakes, but those who use religion as a 'get out of jail free card' are not true believers and the God that I know, doesn't know them (according to the Bible).

Christians use the Bible as the hammer to pound others claiming that a book written many years after the 'events' and translated numerous times like in the telephone game, is 'proof' that they are absolutely correct in anything they say & do! Humans are gross parasites, regardless if they have religion or not. The big difference is there’s no convincing people with religion that they’re irrational because they often times hide behind their fake & made up deity as the reason why they’re doing what they’re doing
My ex is Christian and that's more evidence. He's manipulative and just a piece of trash. He used his religion to make himself feel better about himself. Just pray and make it all go away. 🤮
People who feel like religion is on their side no matter how they behave or act, do so because they believe they are not beholden to any people on this Earth, but only their God. And if they are delusional enough to believe that they are acting within their God's will when they do things like--
-- deny gay people a wedding cake, or insist that transgender people have no rights to be treated as a human being, defending their right to marry children, or do things like insisting they have a right to force their beliefs on other people, they believe they are acting as their religion tells--
-- them too, so they truly believe that there is no one on earth that can tell them that they are wrong for their beliefs, and that if they are wrong they will only meet that judgment upon their death. It truly is sad that mental illness allows people to believe that they are righteous for--
-- "following their religion", And doing the horrific things that they do.

Religion is a SYMPTOM of mental mismanagement. There is no room here for the vast array of proofs.
I believe that it is the converse. People who are irrational are drawn to particular manifestations of religion. Those manifestations give them a permission structure and validates their beliefs, just as nihilism does. MLK Jr was drawn to a Christianity that demanded justice.
