Chicago has seen notable declines in violent crime through mid-2025. Homicides dropped by 32.3% (256 in 2025 vs. 370 in 2024), shootings fell 37.4%, and overall violent crime decreased by 21.6% year-to-date. Robberies are down 31.9%, vehicular hijackings by 49%, and aggravated assaults by 18.1%.
