Spent most of the day thinking about this article :) Seems to me there's a gulf between those with access to a profound sense of collective loss, and those utterly unable to relate (with the latter more likely to be in control of resources or seeking to gain them)

If only someone had warned about this. An awful lot of people seem to have forgotten (assuming they ever knew) about the role of major industry (not just the mines) in providing a sense of community. As an aside, Blackpool hosted this historicengland.org.uk/education/sc...
