So it’s an actual remake and not just wearing the old game’s skin like a leatherface mask?

nope it's just a remaster basically, it's got HD visuals and new controls but other then that it's the exact same game, it's basically the gaming equivalent of the Psycho remake.

Isn’t it using new assets?

Yeah. It’s not a remaster, it would be more accurate to call it a reproduction.

So an actual remake and not a reimagining? Damn, that’s rare these days

Yup. I can see why some people might be disappointed by it “playing safe” but it’s nice to see a remake that doesn’t change a bunch of shit for the sake of it.

I refer to a lot of “remakes” as reimagining as most are entirely different games, such as the resident evil “remakes”. I would assume most would be disappointed but considering mgs 3 is pretty accessible. It’s weird they didn’t go the reimagining route here

Most companies seem fine doing a reimagining for games that aren’t accessible sadly

I liken it to the Gus Van Sant remake of Psycho where it's almost the exact same movie as the original, just using new technology(like including the panning room shots that Hitchcock always wanted in the original but could not do due to technological limitations of the time).
