California has a bipartisan commission that handles this. Not sure if anyone has looked at whether the assumptions underlying it still hold; I think it was adopted before SCOTUS went batshit on race and voting issues.

Ohio has passed a whole bunch of laws to ensure fairer districts. The GOP has ignored and run roughshod over them for more than a decade. It’s time to adopt the same tactics before it’s too late. If the GOP is the only group ignoring these laws, we already know how the corrupted courts will rule.
