Appreciate the sentiment but emergency workers are not saints. We are just people trying to put food on the table like everyone else, but there are HUGE gaping holes in the system re: unhoused/mental illness that make our jobs horrifically dangerous. This will keep happening until real change occurs

Def agree w.r.t gaping holes. It's heartbreaking. It needs to be addressed. But don't discount yourself either. You could have chosen to do any number of other things to provide for you and yours. You chose this. For that I have a ton of respect. Yall were there for my fam in their time of need.

The kind words and intent are seen and appreciated! From what I've seen, saint/hero language implies sacrificing yourself and your needs to EVERYTHING else. Which over time when internalized can contribute to burnout and a status quo of accepting the unacceptable. We are people first❤️
