Well, I know more than one non-profit that needs audited and it wouldn't hurt my feelings. As someone who has worked inside of non-profits for years I can say most of them are funuling most of the grants into their pockets not to services. It's a disgusting phenomenon that happens way to much! 🤬

Call it all you want. Most of the ones I've worked for are no longer in business because of fleasing! The last commity health center I worked for that served an entire community the top earners switched titles amongst themselves constantly given themselves huge bonuses every time! It's disgusting!

Ok. One anecdote or bad apple. This hasn't been the case at any I've worked for. Why generalize and attack all? Not worth it. Does more harm than good. Have a nice day.

When it is 4 out of the 5 I've worked for that is more than 1 bad apple. Oversight is not always a bad thing as we are all coming to realize. Non-profits in healthcare have gone unchecked for way too long! I get it, not enough money for drug and alcohol treatment or to serve the poor in clinics.

But.... when non-profit organization are paying the leaders 250 to 350 thousand a year, their employees subpar wages, and telling the people they serve, "sorry our funding is gone" it's so problematic! Any doctor that spoke out about it at the last clinic I worked at was fired! Not kiding!

I guess they were all too small to require an audit. Any NFP of decent size is required to have an audit. They get an additional separate specific audit if they receive federal funds over a pretty small threshold. But you must already know that, since you spent so much time in them, right?

As someone who’s been putting countless hours into nonprofits for years, you can say what you will, but I don’t know any nonprofits personally that put money in their own pockets. If you know one or two bad actors, how does that measure up to the thousands that do good things in their communities?

Thank you. 100% agree. As somebody who has worked non-profit compliance and auditing for 15 years, you are correct. Institutional fraud is very rare. Individuals commit fraud, yes, same as they do in corporate settings, but it's not unique to non-profits.
