They say history is written by the victors and yet the world is on Greece's side when they read the story of the battle of Thermopylae.

That's because the Greeks won. Thermopylae was a delaying action. Persia failed its objective of marching into Athens and catching the famed Athenian navy in port, and it was the navy of Athens that ultimately struck the killing blow against the Persian invasion of Greece.
