Like the Greens, Labour want to build Neighbourhood Health Centres. Unlike the Greens, Labour’s version would not be community-owned NHS assets, but hedge fund & private equity owned investment “opportunities”. Have we not learned from water, PFI 1, etc? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

That's what happened with the Walk-in Centres of the Noughties. Really good provision (you could drop in on your way to/from work/evenings, etc) but they mostly closed at the end of their initial contracts, presumably because not enough money to be made from them.

Waste of money. Like walk in centres which were shut down when a) they didn't divert people from A&E b) they ran into safeguarding issues because didn't have links to GP & A&E computer systems c) they couldn't afford the IT necessary for b). Due to the clearout of NHSE, organisational memory lost.

I see Blairite minister-turned-PFI industry stooge John Hutton has been working hard on getting the government to adopt this expensive approach to building infrastructure and oooof they must think we are really stupid

We have learned. A tiny group of people made a very lot of money and that's what matters.

SureStart centres that offered universal provision was one of the few positives from New Labour under Blair.

These Labour goons are desperate to sell stuff to private equity companies. It seems to have more to do with their future employment than genuine public service. This is theft-from-the-public-Labour-style.
