I think he's right that a some people are more fans of players than teams. I see it in Gen Z kids I work with that like basketball. They aren't as loyal to teams as much as individuals. I'm not saying he's 100% right but he's also not wrong.

Does that hold true for home town teams? There’s Portland kids who were raised in Portland, around the Blazers, and they’re more loyal to some player from another team than the Blazers? I just find that really hard to believe… but kids are into a lot of shit I don’t understand these days 🤷♂️

A lot of kids are player fans. People hate to say Cuban is right but he actually is to a degree about this one. I have nephews that are player fans and don't have team loyalty at all. It's weird.

I truly think individual players are marketed to kids and that's all they seem to care about. They truly don't care about the team in general.

Crazy. I guess I’m kinda that way in football, but again, I’m in a city without a team. Do you think they will outgrow it? Or do you think this is how a generation of fans will relate to team sports forever? What happens when Steph retires?

A lot of kids are front runners. They'll but the superbowl winning shirt every year for instance. This is probably by design.

I get that to a degree, but it’s supposed to end with the home town team. There’s got to be a line. Some things are sacred. Family, religion, and your home team. Where are the parents at?!?!

I grew up in Indiana. I was a Pacers fan. I moved here in 95'. I still am a Pacers fan (except when they play Portland) but I became a Blazers fan because this was now my home.
