The argument for not having an edit feature would be 1. to encourage proofreading before posting and 2. to prevent "gotcha" type screenshots of famous people "liking" posts and then having the meaning changed by the OP.

Even thirty seconds to fix an oops would be appreciated sometimes. The gotcha problem you describe is a new thought for me, but a very brief edit window would make that less likely. Oh well, it is what it is.
