Franco was not democratically removed. He ruled from 1939 to 1975. Nobody removed him, he was never voted out, he just died of old age. In Portugal, they had the Carnation Revolution, a coup. Greece involved coups and a Turkish invasion. None of these were the result of democratic action.

The first Spanish astronaut helped with that. Falangists knew they wouldn't survive Franco if they tried to cling to power they could enter near orbit too.
