J.D. Vance’s remark about “Chinese peasants” exposes not only his diplomatic ineptitude but a worldview rooted in outdated stereotypes. It’s not policy—it’s performative ignorance masquerading as economic insight.

George Orwell wrote this summary of foreign stereotypes in 1939, and would no doubt be horrified to see them still firmly in place some 85 years later.
To think that he is #2 in the US, is to lose one’s stomach contents. (I don’t know how to diagram that sentence.)
Guangdong has better education, infrastructures, and health care than his southern poor state that relies on CA and NY to provide for his constituents
Also someone who is in the position he is now because he wrote a book attempting to explain the underclass should be ashamed of himself.
I give a gold star for the phrase “performative ignorance.” With JD Vance the issue is “I’m not a brain-dead asshole, but I do play one on TV.” Then onto the cereal endorsement. The strongest lies are half-truths, and the idea that Vance is not factually an idiot is key leverage for selling lies.
Well trump did pick 'em Stupid begets stupid. Makes you want to scream and throw up both your hands
Someone needs to remind him of where he comes from
Vance is as hillbilly as Jed Clampett. But in America, we’re so stupid that we confuse TV characters with real life. Ahem. Ukraine got it right and we failed.
He’ll always be white trash. A diploma from Yale doesn’t change that.
He really wants to be disagreeable.
And he pissed off China. China is going to overtake the US as a superpower. We’re dying because we are seen as unstable and they are going to step in.
The assholery just keeps topping itself again & again. I go away for an hour & come back & BOOM! Worse than ever!💥🤯🤯💥💥‼️‼️
